The ingredients needed to make Classic Ground Beef Stroganoff:
  1. Take 1 lb ground beef
  2. Take to taste Salt, pepper
  3. Get 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  4. Get 1/2 teaspoon garlic poweder
  5. Take 1/2 onion, diced
  6. Make ready 8-10 oz mushrooms, sliced
  7. Take 2 cloves garlic minced
  8. Take 2 tablespoons butter, divided
  9. Get 2 teaspoons flour
  10. Get 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  11. Make ready 10.5 oz can cream of mushroom soup
  12. Prepare 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  13. Take Pinch ground nutmeg
  14. Prepare 1 cup sour cream
  15. Get Cooked egg noodles (whole wheat are best)

Break it up a little bit as you go but not too much as you will want a little bit of chunky beef in there. Once the beef is about halfway browned add the butter, onions, and mushrooms. Add beef and cook until it loses pink color. Stir in salt, pepper, and flour.

Steps to make Classic Ground Beef Stroganoff:
  1. Cook ground beef, salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder in a skillet until no longer pink, drain set aside
  2. In same skillet melt butter and saute mushrooms, onion, and garlic until mushrooms are browned and onions are translucent. Add garlic last so it won't burn.
  3. Sprinkle on flour a stir to cook flour for 2 minutes
  4. Deglaze skillet with beef broth, add mushrooms soup, stir until combined.
  5. Add cooked beef back to skillet, stir in nutmeg, bring to a light boil and then simmer for 15 minutes while noodles cook.
  6. Check for last minute seasoning needs and stir in sour cream just before serving.
  7. Serve over whole wheat egg noodles

Add beef and cook until it loses pink color. Stir in salt, pepper, and flour. Serve over egg noodles or bow ties. Ground Beef Stroganoff is just as versatile as the classic version. You can serve it with noodles, rice, buckwheat or my favorite, mashed potatoes.
