The ingredients needed to make Chicken in Hoisin Sauce:
  1. Get For Chicken :
  2. Prepare 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast, sliced into strips
  3. Make ready 1/2 teaspoon salt
  4. Prepare 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  5. Prepare 1 egg, lightly beaten
  6. Take 1/3 cup cornstarch
  7. Prepare Oil to fry
  8. Make ready For Sauce :
  9. Take 2 cloves garlic, minced
  10. Get 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  11. Prepare 1/2 cup frozen pea, thawed
  12. Prepare 1/4 cup water
  13. Prepare 2 tbs sugar
  14. Take 1,5 tablespoons ketchup
  15. Take 3 tablespoons Hoisin sauce
  16. Get 1/2 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
  17. Make ready 1 teaspoons oyster sauce
  18. Get 1 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  19. Get To taste ground black pepper
  20. Prepare 1 tsp cornstarch + 1 tbs water (mix well)

Combine the chicken with Hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil and pepper. Whisk together all ingredients except chicken, then coat chicken all over with sauce. Stir in the snow peas and sprinkle in some red chile flakes. Reduce the heat to medium low and stir in the hoisin sauce and water.

Steps to make Chicken in Hoisin Sauce:
  1. Marinate the chicken slices with salt, garlic powder and egg for at least an hour.
  2. Put the cornstarch in a bowl. Add the chicken pieces and coat them well with cornstarch.
  3. Fry the chicken until cooked through and crispy. Fry the chicken in small batches so it will not use too much oil.
  4. To make the sauce : Mix water, sugar, ketchup, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, apple cider vinegar and black pepper in a bowl. Stir them well.
  5. Heat a tablespoon oil, then add garlic and onion. Saute until fragrant.
  6. Add the sauce mixture and cook until bubbly. Add the peas. Stir it for a few second. Add the cornstarch mixture. Stir it until the sauce get thickened. Turn the heat off.
  7. Add the chicken pieces and toss to combine.
  8. Serve immediately.

Stir in the snow peas and sprinkle in some red chile flakes. Reduce the heat to medium low and stir in the hoisin sauce and water. In a small saucepan, whisk together soy sauce, Hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, ground ginger, sesame oil, garlic powder and water until well combined. Bring everything to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer just until the sauce thickens. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
