  1. Make ready 2 medium green bell peppers (diced)
  2. Take 1 medium onion (diced)
  3. Prepare 1 cup fresh mushrooms

  6. Prepare 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper

  10. Prepare 14 1/2 oz can diced tomatoes
  11. Take 3 cups whole wheat penne pasta
  12. Make ready 6 tbsp grated parmesian cheese

Place pasta in large bowl; pour sauce mixture over pasta, tossing to coat. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook, turning occasionally, until well browned on all sides. Add the peppers and onions to the skillet.

Instructions to make Sausage and Pepper Penne Pasta:
  1. Cook penne according to directions on box.
  2. Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray. Add green pepper, onion, mushrooms and garlic; cook on medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until almost tender, about 7 to 8 minutes.
  3. Remove turkey from casings; add turkey to skillet and brown until no longer pink, stirring occasionally, about 6 minutes. Add red pepper flakes, salt, black pepper and oregano; stir in tomatoes. Simmer until heated through, about 5 minutes.
  4. Put sausage and vegetables over penne and top with parmesan cheese.
