Hey everyone, it’s Brad, welcome to our recipe site. Today, I’m gonna show you how to prepare a special dish, mango sambar. One of my favorites. This time, I will make it a bit unique. This will be really delicious.

Mango sambar is one of the most favored of current trending foods on earth. It is simple, it is quick, it tastes yummy. It is enjoyed by millions daily. Mango sambar is something that I’ve loved my entire life. They’re nice and they look wonderful.

Raw Mango Sambar Recipe is a delicious Tamil Nadu Style Sambar where dal is cooked with raw mango and other South Indian spices. Whole spices like mustard seeds, dry red chilli, hing, urad dal are also poured over the dal as a tempering that helps to add more flavours. Mango sambar is one of the flavorful sambar just like drumstick sambar. I am not a big fan though.

The ingredients needed to make Mango sambar:
  1. Get 2 tbsp Oil
  2. Get 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  3. Get 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  4. Prepare 1 tsp Urad dal
  5. Get Curry leaves 1 sprig
  6. Take garlic cloves 5 nos
  7. Prepare 1 tsp Hing powder
  8. Get Red chilli 2 nos
  9. Take Green chilli 2 nos
  10. Get Onion 1 nos
  11. Take Tomato 1 nos
  12. Get Mango 1 nos
  13. Get 1 cups Toor dal
  14. Get Tamarind juice- small lemon size 1 nos
  15. Make ready 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  16. Take 1 tsp Chilli powder
  17. Get 1 tbsp Sambar powder

You can also add drumstick and brinjal to this sambar, which does wonders. I used homemade sambar powder and this sambar taste better the next day. Heat oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters add fenugreek seeds (vendhayam), hing and curry leaves. Let the tamarind extract be thin.

Instructions to make Mango sambar:
  1. Wash toor dal and cook well in a pressure cooker along with 2 garlic, turmeric powder, green chilli, Hing powder and salt for 2 whistles.
  2. Soak a lemon sized tamarind in a water for 15 mins and take the juice.
  3. In a pan add oil, when it is hot add red chilli, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, urad dal,remaining garlic,Hing powder and Curry leaves. When spluttering add onions and tomato, mix it well and cook till it becomes mushy.
  4. Now add turmeric powder, chilli powder and sambar powder. Mix well till the raw smell goes.
  5. Add the cubed mango pieces and mix well to the masala.
  6. Now mash the cooked dal and add to the onion tomato masala.
  7. Keep the flame in medium low and cover it for 5 mins, mix it in between to avoid burning.
  8. Now extract the juice from the tamarind that is soaked in water and add to the dal. Add more water to this if you according to your consistency and let it boil for 15 mins in medium low.
  9. Now switch off and have the tasty mango sambar with hot steamed rice.

Heat oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters add fenugreek seeds (vendhayam), hing and curry leaves. Let the tamarind extract be thin. Since the mango gives tanginess to the sambar, let the tamarind water be thin. In a pan add oil and throw in the mustard seeds and add the peeled shallots. And this raw mango sambar is a nice lip smacking tangy sambar.
