The ingredients needed to make Sweet and Sour and Spicy Tofu:
  1. Take 500 gr firm tofu
  2. Take Oil for frying tofu
  3. Get 2 tsp ground chili
  4. Get 1 tbsp ground garlic
  5. Take 5 shallots, peeled, sliced (no need to slice them thinly)
  6. Get 2 tbsp honey (or 1 tbsp sugar)
  7. Get 1/2 tsp salt
  8. Make ready Juice from 1/4 lemon (or a medium-sized lime)

It's easy, it's healthy and it's so good! The tofu is pan-fried, then doused in a sweet and sour sauce, with the intermingling of flavors from ketchup, vinegar, and soy sauce. It is then stir-fried with the crisp and crunchy vegetables to deliver a well-balanced texture and flavor. Whisk together all of the sweet and sour sauce ingredients except for the cornstarch.

Steps to make Sweet and Sour and Spicy Tofu:
  1. Wrap the tofu with cloth/thick tissue and leave for at least 15 minutes to get rid of the excess water.
  2. Dice (or cut to your preference) and fry until golden brown. Set aside.
  3. Use about 1 tbsp oil (from frying tofu) to stir-fry the shallots. Add the remaining ingredients except tofu and stir until fragrant. Add the tofu pieces and stir well. Adjust the taste when necessary.

It is then stir-fried with the crisp and crunchy vegetables to deliver a well-balanced texture and flavor. Whisk together all of the sweet and sour sauce ingredients except for the cornstarch. The crispy pan-fried tofu cubes are then tossed in a spicy, sweet and sour General Tso's sauce which has a rich flavor from soy or tamari sauce, garlic, ginger, and chili. Since Tofu has a pretty neutral flavor like Chicken, it makes the perfect meat substitute in this dish! It's just perfectly salty enough from the soy sauce and it thickens into a delicious, sticky, caramelized coating on the tofu and vegetables when it comes together in the end.
