The ingredients needed to make Tofu Steak with Miso Sauce:
  1. Take 16 oz tofu, drained
  2. Prepare 1 Tbsp potato starch
  3. Get oil to cook tofu
  4. Take (for sauce)
  5. Prepare 1 Tbsp sake
  6. Get 1/2 Tbsp vinegar
  7. Prepare 1 tsp ginger, grated
  8. Take 1/2 tsp honey
  9. Make ready pinch cayenne pepper
  10. Get 1 Tbsp miso paste
  11. Make ready 11/2 Tbsp greek yoghurt
  12. Make ready 1 Tbsp freshly ground sesame seeds
  13. Make ready drizzle sesame oil

Steps to make Tofu Steak with Miso Sauce:
  1. Drain tofu with paper towels for about 2 hours. I sliced it in half and microwaved 2 mins. Then wrapped with clean paper towels and let them sit in the fridge.
  2. Place sake, vinegar, ginger, honey and cayenne pepper in a cup. Microwave 1 1/2 mins then mix with the rest of the sauce ingredients and combine well.
  3. I like the flavour of freshly ground sesame seeds♡ You can use store bought ones, but I recommend to grind by yourself if you have mortar and pestle.
  4. Cut the drained tofu into quarters and sprinkle potato starch over them.
  5. Put a pan over medium heat and warm oil. Place the tofu on the pan and cover. Cook about 3 mins, then flip and continue to cook another 2-3 mins or until they get crispy and golden brown.
  6. Pour the sauce and serve hot!

To make the goma miso sauce, mix the sesame paste, white miso and mirin until a smooth consistency is reached. Add the light soy sauce, rice vinegar, and half the juice from the lemon. Mix well until all the seasonings have dissolved. Place tofu slices between clean kitchen towels (or paper towels) on a dish or cutting board. Gently press to remove excess water.
