  1. Get 2 pc Katla Fish
  2. Make ready 1 cup Potato slices
  3. Get 1 cup Onion Slices
  4. Make ready 2 Table Spoon Tomato Chopped
  5. Take 2 Green chillis
  6. Prepare 2 Tea spoon kalonji + cumin seeds
  7. Take 1 Inch Ginger
  8. Make ready 2 Tea spoon Coriander powder
  9. Get 2 Tea spoon Cummin powder
  10. Get 1 and 1/2 Tea spoon Turmeric powder
  11. Take 2 Tea spoon Kashmiri mirch
  12. Make ready 1 Tea spoon Red chilli powder
  13. Make ready 1 Tea spoon Garam masala
  14. Prepare as needed salt

Instructions to make Katla jhal:
  1. Marinate the fish pieces with salt and 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder and keep it aside for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Now heat oil in a kadai and fry the pieces till golden brown from both the sides. Take them out in a plate and keep aside.
  3. Now in the same oil add kalo jeera and gota jeera. when it stops crakling add the onions and grated ginger. Fry the onions till transparent and light brown.
  4. Now add the Tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes are soft.
  5. When the tomatoes get soft add potatoes and all the masalas but skip the garam masala. Fry them well and add little water so that the masala doesn't get burn.
  6. When the oil starts separating add water and cover it. cook in medium flame till the potatoes are cooked water is reduced.
  7. Add the fish pieces and green chilies and coriander leaves, garam masala. - Serve Hot with steam rice.
