The ingredients needed to make Thakkadi:
  1. Take For mutton:
  2. Prepare 3-4 kg Mutton with bone pieces
  3. Get 2 Onion chopped
  4. Take 1 Tomato chopped
  5. Prepare 4 tbsp Giger garlic paste
  6. Take 4 Cardamom
  7. Take 2" Cinnamon
  8. Get 1sprig Curry leaves
  9. Get to taste Salt
  10. Get 2 tsp chilli powder
  11. Prepare 3 tbsp Curry powder(kulambu masala powder)
  12. Prepare 4 tbsp Oil-4tblspn
  13. Get For thakkadi:
  14. Take 1/2 kg Rice flour(unsifted)
  15. Make ready 2 big Coconut grated
  16. Make ready 30- 40 Small onion finely chopped
  17. Get 1 Big onion chopped
  18. Get 2 Green chilli chopped
  19. Take 2 handful Curry leaves chopped
  20. Take to taste Salt
  21. Prepare as needed Hot water
  22. Get 1cup Coconut milk

Instructions to make Thakkadi:
  1. Heat a cooker add oil and heat it, when it heat well add cardamom, cinnamon and fry it,
  2. Next add some onion, ginger garlic paste and curry leaves, saute it till raw smell went.
  3. Next add remaining onion, tomato and salt and mix well, cook it for 10mins.
  4. Next add mutton, chilli powder and masala powder,mix well.
  5. Add more water and give a mix.
  6. When it boils well close the lid and cook it for 6whisstles.
  7. After 6whistles, when it releases heat, open the lid and keep aside.
  8. In the meantime take rice flour in a big vessel.
  9. In rice flour add coconut, chopped onions,curry leaves and chilli,mix well.
  10. Add salt and mix again.
  11. Now take 1/2 amount of gravy from the mutton curry.
  12. Add this gravy little by little to riceflour and mix it to form a puttu or kolukattai consistency. If u need only then add hot water too otherwise no need.
  13. Next transfer the remaining gravy and mutton to the wide vessel añd add 2cups of water and boil it again.
  14. In the meantime make a dumpling from the flour mixture very gently.
  15. When curry boils well add the dumplings one by one very slowly.
  16. Put in high heat for 5-10 mins, next put in very low flame and cook it for 20mins
  17. Finally add coconut milk and coriander leaves.
  18. Cook for 5mins and swich off the flame.
