The ingredients needed to make Marinated Roasted Beef:
  1. Make ready 800 g boneless rump roast
  2. Take 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  3. Make ready 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  4. Make ready 1 large garlic clove, minced
  5. Take 1 tbsp sugar
  6. Take 50 ml soy sauce
  7. Make ready 90 ml water
  8. Prepare Pinch salt to taste

Steps to make Marinated Roasted Beef:
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Next pierce the beef all over with a fork. Coat the beef throughly by turning it in the marinade. Refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours or overnight preferably. Turn it occasionally so both sides coat evenly.
  3. Heat the oven to 160c.
  4. Remove the beef from the bowl and return the marinade back to the fridge.
  5. Place the beef in a tray with a rack underneath and roast for about 2 hours
  6. 35 minutes before the beef is cooked. Place the marinade in a saucepan and Bring to the boil. Boil for one minute.
  7. Baste the roast with the marinade during the last 30 minutes.
  8. Leave to stand for 20 minutes.
